Office of the Fiscal Officer

The activities taking place in the Finance Office include: payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable, income tax receipts, budget preparation, cemetery records, purchase orders, receipting of all funds coming into the village and review of expenditures. Any and all financial activities of the village take place in this office. This office is where the village’s phone number 330-569-7677 rings and is answered from 8am to 4pm.

The Fiscal Officer, Susan J. Skrovan, is the Chief Financial Officer for the village as well as the clerk of council. In the village, the Fiscal Officer pays the bills, receipts in the monies collected, establishes an annual budget of anticipated revenues as well as establishes levels of expenditures for all departments. She works with the department heads to keep spending in check as well as assist with budgeting problems. The Fiscal Officer takes minutes during the council meeting. This office keeps all the official records of the village. The Fiscal Officer carefully monitors the cash flow of the village as well as the expenditures of the village. She reconciles the village bank accounts and reports to the council monthly.

The Assistant Fiscal Officer, Wendelin Taylor, is the payroll clerk for the village. She keeps the cemetery records and does the bi-weekly payroll for the village. She also collects and records parking fines for the Hiram Village Police Department. The Fiscal Officer and the Assistant Fiscal Officer have a wide range of duties within the municipality.
